Fall 2004 student essays - first installment
mcooksey wrote on 2004-10-12 17:26:47
Hello! Our Introduction to Philosophy course students are once again focusing upon the study of Dr. Engelbart's ideas this term, and we have begun our essay writing. This term - much like last - we are exploring his notions of the collective IQ, dynamic repositories and educational networked improvement communities. We have begun this term mcuh like the last in that the first essay postings explore Pre-Socratic, Primal ways of knowing - and the stduents have written in reaction to what last Spring's students acccomplished in this regard. The essays are posted below - CSUMB students - please give us your feedback and your reactions...
I would also like to take this opportunity to invite the CSUMB students to review the Final Essay work from the students last spring. The teaching assistant from the course, Paula Shouse, worked hard this summer to get them all posted....please read them by clicking on each pod member's name....not all of them are there, but about half are.... so please give us some feedback!

Hi everyone @ opencourse.org!
Doug has been a great inspiration to me - I really only knew of his work in a very peripheral sense until around 3 weeks ago.
Since then, I've resigned from my job as a team leader in a financial software company to focus on doing research on the ideas of Engelbart, Tufte, Brooking and Kurzweil. It's been a lot of fun so far - I've learnt a lot about myself in the process. I realize now how little I understand now, and how ignorant I've been in the past. (>_< ) I ope you'l be patient with me.
Groupware was a major part of my university honours research so I'm very happy to have found this great site.
Congratulations are due to the opencourse.org organizers and founders. (pause for cheers)
Sorry if I sound like a travelling medicine salesman, but you might enjoy my blog -
I've been blogging quite a lot about HCI and corporate memory lately.. Apologies in advance - it's quite obscure/rambling. It's a little window into my stream of consciousness, warts and all.
I'm not trying to sell you anything - information wants to be free. :)
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.
I'm very happy to be here. Regards,
Nick (NRG)
